We decided to stay an extra day here since the weather was nice and we wanted to see the National Cowboy Museum again. We last visited it in 2005 when we were on our two-month motorcycle trip. The exhibits change frequently so we weren't worried about seeing all the same things over again.
We arrived at the museum at about 9:45; it was pretty quiet for a Saturday. We both spent a lot more time this time around reading all the little stories that accompanied the exhibits or art work. It was very fascinating. We wandered through a miriad of rooms - it was almost like a maze. At lunch time we had been there over two hours and still hadn't got out of the first two main rooms! We stopped for lunch at the Persimmon Hill Restaurant in the Museum. The food was very tasty, well-presented and reasonably priced.
We spent the next 3 hours seeing the rest of the museum and then headed back to our RV for a rest. That's a long time to spend on one's feet and I know I took lots of opportunities to sit on the benches provided.
Walter Brennan, of course:-)
Such a realistic statue!
The End of the Trail - 18 feet tall
Tomorrow we will be on the road again. We expect to be in a RV Park in Amarillo, Texas or, if we don't want to do that we might stay overnight at the Flying J in Amarillo. I don't think we would have a repeat of our experience a couple of nights ago, and our motorhome is set up to be self-sufficient, at least for a few days.
